Linux – FOG Server – Planning

Work-In-Progress: Welcome to my FOG Server series. In this session I will look at some aspects of the installation which requires planning.

• Network: In production environments it can be wise to consider setting up a separate VLAN for PC-cloning/imaging. For this VLAN it is preferred to setup a separate DHCP-scope.
• Firewall: In order to, for example, join newly imaged pc’s to the Windows domain, it is wise to plan the necassary firewall-openings. It will also be smart to open the firewall for the following functions:
  • NTP
  • KMS
  • DHCP
• Server sizing and network-location
