Release date: March 21th 2021
Welcome to my Dell Wyse Management Studio section. In this sub-section I will describe how I upgraded BIOS in my WYSE device using Dell Wyse Management Suite (WMS). The first thing I have to do is to download the correct BIOS-file from Dell.
From the Apps & Data tab, click “ThinOS 9.x” from the menu on the left and “Add BIOS file“
I browse and select the BIOS file I downloaded before starting this session
After the upload is done, I can validate that the BIOS is available in the repository
I validate the existing BIOS version in my WYSE unit
I will be using my “Managed Wyse Devices” group to upgrade BIOS in the devices in this group. I select “Edit Polices” and select the “ThinOS 9.x”-link
From the menu on the left, select Firmware – BIOS Firmware Updates. The package I imported is available and selected. Save & Publish.
The Wyse unit will automatically pick up this policy change and upgrade the BIOS. This concludes my session about upgrading BIOS in Wyse units using Dell Wyse Management Studio. The next logical step is now to upgrade the application package in my Wyse unit, this I have documented here: Dell WMS – Application Upgrade
