Release date: February 27th 2020
Welcome to my Veeam B&R Series. In this quick session I will describe how I upgraded Veeam B&R in my lab to v. 10. As I have been blessed with an NFR license for Veeam in my lab, I have set up a backup-server in order to do backups of my lab-environment. This is not a very big set up, just a virtual MS Windows 2016 server running Veeam B&R with and an old Datadomain DD630 as backup-storage. Veeam B&R runs a few backup jobs that do incremental backup of my environment. Not very advanced, but very helpful.
So, the first thing I do in this upgrade, is to download the Veeam 10 ISO from MyVeeam
I open the ISO-file and run setup.exe
The installer identifies my existing installation and gives me the option to upgrade…
As I’m lacking the .Net Framework 4.7.2, I install this and reboot.
Once the server has rebooted, the installer re-launches and I accept the license agreement.
The installer correctly detects my installed versions, Next…
My license-file is correct, Next…
I will let Veeam automatically update my license, Yes…
I will continue to use the LOCAL SYSTEM as service account, Next…
The existing SQL server will suffice, Next…
I will be upgrading my existing configuration database, Yes…
I let the installer update my remote components automatically, Install…
Once the installer finishes successfully, Finish…
Although it probably isn’t necessary, I reboot the server. Once the server is back up, I start up Veeam and verify the status of my Backup Infrastructure.
Everything looks operational. Finally, I do a test run of a few backup jobs to verify functionality. With that done successfully, this session about upgrading Veeam B&R to v. 10 is complete.
