Release date: February 7th 2022
Welcome to my VMware App Volumes series. The new version of VMware App Volumes, 2111, was GA on November 30th 2021, with the version being 4.5.0.77. This version includes new features as Apps On Demand, Multi-instance Management and New Advanced Scripting Tools, as well as bug fixes etc. The Release Notes can be reviewed here: VMware App Volumes 4, version 2111.
In this section I will describe how I upgraded my VMware App Volumes infrastructure to v. 2111 (4.5.0.77), but first, at what point in an upgrade procedure should we upgrade the VMware App Volumes Components? According to VMware’s official documentation, Update sequence for Horizon 7, Horizon 8, and compatible VMware products (78445), this should be done as shown below.
Before beginning the upgrade, I also verify that the upgrade path is supported in the VMware Interoperability Matrix
The procedure used for upgrading is as follows:
- Upgrade Manager
- Upgrade Agent
- Templates (Same procedure as with upgrade from 2006->2103)
- Update Applications
