Release date: September 4th 2022
Welcome to my VMware Dynamic Environment Manager series. In this session I will describe how I upgraded the VMware DEM GPO templates to v. 2206. According to VMware’s official documentation, this should be done as step 12 in the supported update sequence.
I start out by downloading the installation media from VMware Customer Connect
I first log in to one of my Active Directory servers, browse to the temporary folder where I downloaded the VMware-DEM-xxx-GA.zip file and extract it. Under the VMware-DEM-xxx-GA folder, there is a folder named “Administrative Templates (ADMX)”. This is where the updated admx-templates are situated.
Next, I copy and replace all the admx-files to my “PolicyDefinitions” folder. In my LAB this will be:
C:\Windows\SYSVOL\sysvol\ad.admin.frelab.net\Policies\PolicyDefinitions
Finally, I copy and replace the adml-files from the en-US folder to:
C:\Windows\SYSVOL\sysvol\ad.admin.frelab.net\Policies\PolicyDefinitions\en-US
This concludes my session about upgrading the DEM GPO Templates to v. 2206. I will now proceed with upgrading the DEM Application Profiler, posted here: VMware DEM – Upgrade Application Profiler to v. 2206
