VMware Horizon – Upgrade Horizon GPO Bundle to v. 2206

Release date: September 1st 2022

Welcome to my VMware Horizon series. In this session I will describe how I upgraded my VMware Horizon GPO Templates. But first, at what point in an upgrade procedure should we upgrade the VMware Horizon Components? According to VMware’s official documentation, this should be done as step 12 in the supported update sequence.

As with the Connection Server upgrade, I start out by downloading the Horizon GPO Bundle from VMware Customer Connect

In order to upgrade the VMware Horizon GPO’s, I login into one of my Active Directory servers. I copy the VMware-Horizon-Extras-Bundle-xxxx.zip file to a temp-folder and extract it.

I first copy and replace all the admx-files to my Central Store location, in my LAB this will be the “PolicyDefinitions” folder. I replace the existing files.

Next, I copy and replace the adml-files from the en-US folder to the “PolicyDefinitions\en-US” folder. I replace the existing files.

This concludes my session about upgrading the GPO Bundle to v. 2206, According to the supported upgrade path from VMware, this is the final step in upgrading VMware Horizon. With this done, I can log in and test that everything works as expected.
