VMware Horizon – Upgrade to v. 2111

Release date: January 10th 2022

Welcome to my VMware Horizon series. The new version of VMware Horizon, 2111, was GA on December 9th 2021, after updates to remedy the Log4j vulnerabilities were sorted. In this section I will describe how I upgraded my VMware Horizon infrastructure to v. 2111. But first, at what point in an upgrade procedure should we upgrade the VMware Horizon Components? According to VMware’s official documentation, Update sequence for Horizon 7, Horizon 8, and compatible VMware products (78445), this should be done as shown below.

To check out all the new features and changes with VMware Horizon 2111, review the release notes from VMware posted here: VMware Horizon 8 2111 Release Notes

Prior to upgrading Horizon, I check out VMware Product Interoperability Matrices to see that my planned upgrade path is supported.

The procedure used for upgrading is as follows:

  1. Upgrade Horizon Client-repository
  2. Upgrade Workspace One Access
  3. Upgrade Connection server
  4. Upgrade Enrollment server
  5. Upgrade Recording Server
  6. Upgrade UAG’s
