Welcome to my VMware Horizon series. The new version of VMware Horizon, 2203, was GA on April 5th 2022. In reference to the release notes here, VMware Horizon 8 2203 Release Notes, it doesn’t look to be any revolutionary changes with this release. There are no updates to the Horizon Connection Server, but some minor updates to the Horizon Agent etc. Anyhow, in this section I will describe how I upgraded my VMware Horizon infrastructure to v. 2203. But first, at what point in an upgrade procedure should we upgrade the VMware Horizon Components? According to VMware’s official documentation, Update sequence for Horizon 7, Horizon 8, and compatible VMware products (78445), this should be done as shown below.
Prior to upgrading Horizon, I check out VMware Product Interoperability Matrices to see that my planned upgrade path is supported.
The procedure used for upgrading is as follows:
- Upgrade Horizon Clients (Repository)
- Upgrade Workspace One Access
- Upgrade Connection server
- Upgrade Enrollment server
- Upgrade Recording Server
- Upgrade UAG’s
- OSOT MDT Plugin
- Upgrade Horizon Agent
- Upgrade GPO-Bundle
