Welcome to my VMware App Volumes series. In this session I will describe the steps I took to upgrade the App Volumes Agent in my VDI templates. My initial installation of VMware App Volumes Agent was done with v. 2.14. I have since upgraded it to 2.16. In this session I will upgrade from 2.16 to 2.17, which was released on July 2 2019.
As I did when I upgraded the App Volumes Manager, I download the App Volumes ISO-file from My VMware and extract it. I copy the «Installation»-folder to my VDI-template and launch the setup.exe file.
The App Volumes 2.17 Installation Wizard launches, Next…
I accept the license terms, Next…
In the App Volumes Install Screen, I select “Install App Volumes Agent”, Install…
This selection launches the App Volumes Agent Upgrade Wizard, Next…
OK…
When the App Volumes Installation Wizard finishes, Finish…
I click Yes to reboot the VDI template
Once the VDI has rebooted. I prepare the template for deployment, take a new snapshot and push this new image to the desktop pools.
This completes my upgrade of the VMware App Volumes Agent. I replicate this procedure when upgrading my App Volumes Capture VM.
