VMware Horizon JMP – Configuration

Release date: June 6th 2019

Welcome to my VMware Horizon JMP series. This topic will cover the configuration of JMP Server for VMware Horizon. It is not a very big task, mainly consisting of entering the necessary info about JMP, VMware Horizon, MS Active Directory, App Volumes and User Environment Manager to “/newadmin”. Almost all configuration of JMP Server happens in the new admin GUI in VMware Horizon and consist of the following steps.

  • Replace JMP Server self-signed certificate with Domain CA signed certificate
  • Add JMP Server to “/newadmin”
  • Add Horizon to JMP Configuration
  • Add MS Active Directory to JMP Configuration
  • Add App Volumes to JMP Configuration
  • Add UEM File Share to JMP Configuration

Replace JMP Server self-signed certificate with Domain CA signed certificate

Before we can connect JMP Server to Horizon, I’m going to replace the self-signed certificate on the JMP Server. I have created a separate session that explains how I did this here: VMware Horizon JMP – Replace JMP Server self-signed certificate with Domain CA signed certificate

Add JMP Server to “/newadmin”

In a web browser, I open the VMware Horizon Administrator URL with the /newadmin extension

JMP_Configure-01

Once I’ve logged in, I click JMP Configuration at the bottom of the menu on the left

JMP_Configure-02

On the first page, I enter my JMP Server info, Save

JMP_Configure-03

Once the JMP server setting is validated, I continue to the Horizon 7 tab to configure VMware Horizon

JMP_Configure-04

Add Horizon to JMP Configuration

I enter my Horizon Server info, Save…

JMP_Configure-05

Add MS Active Directory to JMP Configuration

Under the Active Directory tab, I click Add

JMP_Configure-06

This where I enter the Bind User info. This user are in most cases the same user as the one configured in Horizon under Composer settings, Save

Add App Volumes to JMP Configuration

Under the App Volumes tab, I click Add to enter my App Volumes info and save this.

Now that all settings have been entered correctly, I’m ready to do some assignments, this I have covered here: VMware Horizon JMP – Operations
