Welcome to my VMware Horizon series. In this session I will describe how I upgraded the VMware Horizon Agent to v. 7.8 in my template and redeployed a desktop pool.
First, I power up the template and open Remote Console. I copy the installer I downloaded from MyVmware to a temp-folder inside the template
Next, I start the VMware Horizon Agent installation wizard, Next
I accept the terms, Next
I’m still using IPv4, Next
I will continue using the same settings I did when I installed the agent the first time, Next
The default installation-path is as good as any, Install
When the installer finishes I restart the template
After the template has rebooted, I will take the opportunity to update Windows from Windows Update. Once the updates are installed I shutdown the template. I remove existing snapshots and create a new snapshot to push to my desktop pool
I log back into Horizon Administrator, select my pool and click Push Image
I select my new snapshot, Next
As this is my LAB, I will use the “Force users to log off” option, Next
Finish
After the Push Image procedure finishes, I can verify the inventory of my pool and see that the desktops have the correct agent version
This concludes my agents and pools upgrade, I can now proceed with the final step in my Horizon-upgrade, upgrading the Horizon Clients, covered here: VMware Horizon – Upgrade Horizon Clients
