Dell WMS – Certificate Template Configuration

Release date: February 20th 2021

Welcome to my Dell Wyse Management Studio section. In this sub-section I will describe how I created the certificate-template I’m going to be using when issuing the certificate to my WMS server. I know this is pretty basic for many of my visitors, but for those who are uncertain how to do this, it might be helpful.

The first thing I do is to log in to my CA servers and open the CA MMC, I right-click the Certificate Templates folder and select “Manage

Next, I Duplicate the Web Server Template.

On the Combability Page I adjust the Combability as seen below

On the General Tab, I give my new template a recognizable Display Name and adjust the Validity Period

Under the Request Handling tab, I select “Allow private key to be exported

I adjust the Minimum key size from the Cryptography page

Finally, I give my WMS servers computer account “Enroll” permissions on this template through the membership in a AD group. When done, I click OK…

I close the Template management window and right-click the Certificate Templates folder again and select “Certificate Template to Issue

My new Wyse Services template is now ready to issue certificate, OK

This concludes my Wyse certificate template creation job, I can now return to my WMS server and request and install a new CA-based certificate. This I have documented here: Dell WMS – Certificate setup
