Release date: March 20th 2021
Welcome to my Dell Wyse Management Studio section. In this sub-section I will describe how I upgraded the ThinOS for my Dell Wyse unit. The first thing I have to do is to download the firmware from Dell.
From the Apps & Data tab, click “ThinOS” from the menu on the left
Click the Add Firmware button
I browse and select the firmware I downloaded before starting this session, I also add a description
After the upload is done, I can validate that the firmware is now in the repository
I validate the ThinOS version on my device before I continue
I will be using my “Managed Wyse Devices” group to upgrade ThinOS on the devices in this group. I select “Edit Polices” and select the “ThinOS“-link
Select “Advanced Configuration“
From the “Firmware Update” option on the left menu I select “Configure this Item“
Adjust “Platform Type” and “Firmware to auto-deploy“, Save & Publish. I click Yes to confirm these changes in the next dialogue-box
To activate the ThinOS upgrade I move my device to the “Managed Wyse Devices” group
Once the ThinOS is upgraded and the devices is restarted, I can verify that the correct ThinOS is installed
This concludes ThinOS upgrade. I can now proceed with upgrading the Wyse 5070 BIOS, which I have documented here: Dell WMS – BIOS Upgrade
