Release date: March 21th 2021
Welcome to my Dell Series. In this section I will describe the set up of Dell Wyse Management Suite (WMS) and the configuration of a Dell Wyse 5070 device. I will set up everything to work with my existing VMware Horizon Environment. As I have previously worked with the Teradici PCoIP Management Console, I’m curios about the differences and the different approaches to achieving the same results. The main reasons for using this product, as far as I can tell, is security and manageability, which it provides nicely. But, first of all, Dell WMS needs a Windows Server platform to host the solution, which requires a license and the incorporation in a Windows patching regime. Having it as a virtual appliance as Teradici PCoIP Management would have been preferred. But, as Dell WMS have many other advantages, I will stop my complaining and proceed with the set up. I have divided this section into the following sub-sections:
- Installation and base-configuration of Dell WMS
- Device Groups Setup
- Device Operations
- Dell WMS Upgrade
